WebForger Apps: Bundles

Product bundles for your online store

FREE Included with every WebForger site

Put products that belong together into one set, give the set one price, and sell it from its own page on your store. Stock comes straight out of the products inside, so there is no second inventory to keep in step, and the shopper sees exactly how much the bundle saves them before they add it to the cart.

Why bundles earn their place

A bundle gives a shopper a reason to buy the second item today.

Most people who buy a camera also need a memory card, and most people who buy a skincare cleanser would try the matching moisturiser. Left alone, they buy the one thing they came for and maybe come back for the rest. A bundle puts the set in front of them with a clear saving, and the average order goes up because the decision is made once, on one page.

The catch on most platforms is the stock. A bundle built as its own product needs its own inventory, and someone has to keep it in step with the products it is made from. Here a bundle is a recipe, not a product. It sells from the stock you already have, and it stops selling the moment it cannot be filled.

  • One price, with the saving shown. The bundle page shows the bundle price next to the full price struck through and the dollar amount saved, so the value is obvious without a calculator.
  • Stock stays honest. Each sale comes out of the products inside the bundle, and the dashboard shows how many bundles you can still sell based on whichever product runs out first.
  • Shoppers still choose. Up to three products in a bundle can let the shopper pick the variant, such as colour or size, from the options you allow.
  • Offers with a start and an end. Give a bundle a start and end time in your store's time zone. Before it opens the button reads Coming soon, and afterwards it reads Offer ended.
  • Every item on the order. Your order page lists each product in the bundle with its SKU and quantity, and the customer's confirmation email lists them too, so packing is never guesswork.
How bundles are built

Two kinds of set, one simple page.

Fixed sets

Choose up to ten products and how many of each go in the set, from one to ninety nine. You pick the exact variant of each, so a set of two blue mugs and a matching teapot always ships as exactly that.

Sets with a choice

Let the shopper pick the variant on up to three products in the set, from the options you select, with up to a hundred combinations. Each combination can have its own photo, and anything out of stock is crossed out.

Its own page on your store

Every bundle sells from its own page on your domain, with its name, photo, description and an In this bundle list showing each product's photo, quantity, variant and price, then one Add bundle to cart button. In the cart it is a single line with the options the shopper chose.

Run from your dashboard

The bundles list shows each bundle's status, offer dates, price and how many you can still sell. Switch a bundle on or off, duplicate one to start a new offer, and see a red warning straight away if a product inside it has been removed.

Pricing logic

Three ways to price a bundle, and the maths is done for you.

How the bundle price is set

Fixed price. The set sells for one number you choose, for example 99 dollars for three products that add up to 129.

Amount off. A dollar amount is taken off the combined price of the products inside.

Percent off. A whole percentage, from 1 to 99, is taken off the combined price and rounded to the nearest cent.

How it stays correct

The struck through price is the current total of the products inside, worked out from their live prices when you save the bundle.

When product prices change, the dashboard previews the new bundle pricing before you apply it. A fixed price is left alone unless you choose to change it.

The discount is applied to the bundle as one line in the cart, so the shopper sees one clear price rather than a scatter of small reductions.

Order wide discount codes still apply on top of a bundle, so a store wide sale and a bundle offer can run at the same time.

How it works

Three steps, and the first one is ours.

1

We switch it on

Tell us you want to sell bundles and the app is enabled on your store, usually the same day. Your products are already in the catalogue, so there is nothing to import.

2

You build the set

Pick the products and quantities, decide which ones the shopper can choose, set the price and, if you like, an offer window. The editor previews the price and the saving as you go.

3

It goes on sale

We publish the bundle's page and link it from wherever it should be found, your menu, a product page or a campaign. From then on the dashboard tracks what is left to sell.

FAQ

What people ask before building their first bundle.

Can I bundle products without changing my inventory?
Yes. A bundle has no stock of its own. When one sells, the units come straight out of the products inside it, the same stock those products use when they sell on their own. The number of bundles you can still sell is worked out from whichever product inside runs out first, and a product you do not track stock for never limits the bundle.
Can customers choose the colour or size of a product inside a bundle?
Yes, for up to three products in each bundle. You decide which variants are on offer, for example black or white, and the shopper picks on the bundle page. Every other product in the bundle is fixed to the exact variant you chose. Options that are out of stock are crossed out so nobody can pick them.
How is the bundle price worked out?
You choose one of three ways: a fixed price for the whole set, an amount off, or a percentage off the combined price of the products inside. The page shows the bundle price, the full price struck through and the saving in dollars. If you change a product's price later, the dashboard previews the updated bundle pricing before you apply it, and a fixed price is never changed unless you ask.
Do discount codes work on bundles?
Order wide codes and automatic discounts apply to a bundle like any other item in the cart. A discount aimed at one specific product does not carry into bundles that contain it, unless the discount is aimed at the bundle itself. Discounts you limit to full price items leave bundles out, because a bundle is already a deal.
What happens when one product in a bundle sells out?
That combination shows as sold out and cannot be checked out, while any other combinations that still have stock stay on sale. If a product in the bundle is deleted from your catalogue, the bundle stops selling and your dashboard flags it in red, so a broken set never reaches a customer.
Can shoppers build their own box from a range of products?
Not today. A bundle is a set you define, with a shopper choice on up to three of its products. Mix and match boxes where the customer picks any few items from a larger range are a different tool. If that is what your store needs, tell us, because every app here started as a client request.

Sell the set, not just the single item.

WebForger is invite only, so the first step is a short application rather than a signup form. Tell us what you sell, which products go together and what you use for bundles today. If we are not the right fit we will say so, and you will still leave with a straight answer.
